MeMe Detroit
Hailing from the Midlands, creators of Uplift Angsthems, MeMe Detroit, are carving out a fearless space in the UK alt-rock scene. Described by Louder Than War as a band that “bridges the gaps between grunge, indie & blues rock,” their sound is raw yet cathartic — an electrifying fusion of grunge grit and uplifting anthems with heart at its core.
Fronted by British/Latina multi-instrumentalist MeMe (aka Maria Rodriguez), with drummer Kallum McEwen and bassist Abbie Welch completing the lineup, this formidable trio deliver an exciting but tight, dynamic performance, creating a wall of sound that defies their size.
Backed by consistent support from BBC Introducing — including BBC Radio 1 airplay from Alyx Holcombe — and championed by Kerrang! Radio’s Jonny Doom, as well as Clash, Loud Women, and Fresh On The Net, MeMe Detroit are fast becoming synonymous with hook-laden, melodic-driven bangers and unforgettable live shows. Their single Roaring At The Preachers was praised by Loud Women as “a stadium-ready alt-rock anthem,” while Clash described their sound as “stirring” and “visceral.” With a devoted and ever-growing fanbase — the self-dubbed Mean Rock n Rollers Club — the band continue to win hearts across the UK rock scene.
With their latest release Good Life (Talking ’bout the) released on Nov 7 2025, MeMe Detroit are ready to deliver their boldest and most anthemic statement yet.
