Matted might be new, but their story runs deep. Guitarist Jake Slack and bassist Jacob Swann grew up on stage in London’s School of Rock: The Musical, before forming Chapter 13. At just 14 and 15 years old, they earned a golden buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent, leading to headline tours and O2 Arena slots. After that chapter ended, they started fresh—with a new sound and a bold creative vision. Joined by electrifying vocalist Max Walker, innovative guitarist Oscar Paulley, and powerhouse drummer Tom Walker, Matted channel the the heaviness of Alice in Chains, the chaos of Mr. Bungle, the attitude of Beastie Boys, and the raw energy of AC/DC. Their debut single Material dropped in early 2025, followed by Flowers and Chains, a melodic hard grunge anthem about emotional contradiction. Both tracks were produced by the band in collaboration with McFly’s Harry Judd and Danny Jones, and mixed by Romesh Dodangoda and Lewis Johns respectively. Since launching in May 2024, they’ve played Call of the Wild and Planet Rockstock, supported Crashface, Armored Saint and Von Hertzen Brothers, and headlined their own shows. In June 2025 Matted made their explosive Download Festival debut. This is just the beginning. #mattedismassive
